Tamagawa recently joined the International Baccalaureate organization, a collection of 2,195 schools in 125 countries that offer
"high quality programmes of international education to a worldwide community of schools".
IB curriculum, because it is most often
delivered in English, seemed a perfect fit for the Tamagawa Nanaimo Campus, and so in 2008 will open its first 2-week program geared
specifically to those middle Division students in the IB program with a concentrated focus on the science of environmentalism and
sustainability.
In June, fourteen students will take part in a syllabus consisting of flora & plant identification of Vancouver Island,
water quality & conservation, composting & recycling and sustainable forestry practices. Of course it is not all work, the students will also
have a chance to experience Whale watching in the Juan De Fuca Strait.
