College of Agriculture
Department of Bio-Environmental System Program

In 2006, the Tamagawa University College of Agriculture, Department of Bio-Environmental System launched its Canadian Program after taking over the Bio-Environmental Information course that originally started in 2003. It is mandatory for students who are in the department to come to Canada, and to one of Tamagawa University's sister schools, Malaspina University-College for the program. Students enroll in the 4-month program that is custom designed by collaborative work between Tamagawa and Malaspina University-College.

The program offers all-English instructions and lectures in classes such as Plant ID and Plant propagation. The students also take the ESL program that is customized for the Tamagawa students, and its contents are based on Environmental topics. In order to maintain the high standards of learning in collaborative work with the instructors from Malaspina, Tamagawa sends its own instructors for the length of the program.

With the assistance of Malaspina's Homestay department, the students live with local families for a chance to experience more of the Canadian culture and make use of their English skills.
