History

1975:Registered as a non-profit society, under the Societies Act, Province of British Columbia
1976:Inauguration ceremony between Tamagawa Gakuen of Canada Society and Malaspina University-College to celebrate the formation of an Educational Partnership
1978:First students from Tamagawa University Faculty of Agriculture arrive for a one-year practicum and undergraduate thesis research project - program continues until 1999, conducting agricultural research and implementing Japanese agricultural techniques to Canadian soil and climate
1979:Tamagawa Gakuen of Tokyo donates Tamagawa Garden, a Japanese Zen-style garden, to Malaspina University-College
1981:Malaspina University-College donates a Haida Nation totem pole, first totem pole ever raised in Japan (10 meters long, weighing 3 tons), to Tamagawa Gakuen of Tokyo as a gift commemorating Tamagawa's 50th anniversary
1984:The Tamagawa Gakuen Jr. High School Summer Language Study Program begins
1989:Completion of main office building and dormitory
1990:The Tamagawa University Faculty of Agriculture Overseas Practicum begins
1999:Original 100+ year-old heritage farm house dismantled due to safety concerns. Completion of Malaspina-Tamagawa Hall ("Log House") and completion of the main gate
2001:The renovation of the 32-bed dormitory is completed.
2002:Tamagawa Gakuen Junior High School Canada Program begins.
2003:The Tamagawa University Faculty of Agriculture Bio-Environmental Information Course begins
